Island Timberframe uses a wide variety of different
wood species and wood grades. The picture shows large Douglas Fir
from our backyard here on Vancouver Island.
We have excellent sources of Douglas Fir, Red
and Yellow Cedar, Hemlock, Spruce, Maple
and other species to use in our timberframe work.
Recycled timbers are available at times from
decommissioned logging bridges and old barns.
Second growth timbers are very plentiful and make excellent
building material as well.
Green or kiln-dried timbers are used in all kinds of
applications.
