Island Timberframe

Island Timber Frame represents a level of quality spawned from the European heritage of our trade. Founded by Swiss master tradesmen, we carry on the tradition of old-world craftsmanship in each project we complete. In every aspect of a job - design, materials selected, manufacturing process and delivery -  you can be assured that our attention to detail and care in construction is the best in the industry. Wood Selection

Located in the heart of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, we have access to the best supply of Douglas Fir, red and yellow Cedar and other prime lumber, and will ship anywhere in Canada or the USA. Each Douglas Fir timber is grade #1 and better, free of heartwood and guaranteed to be relatively clear of checking and twisting. For an example of standard wear on a beam, please feel free to visit our showroom and have a look at our exposed timbers.

Construction

Each mortise and tenon joint is carefully cut and hand-finished to ensure a perfect, tight fit. The strength and durability of this type of wood joinery is as impressive as the finished look. Where engineering requires steel reinforcement, we have the option of exposing steel hardware, or concealing it inside the joinery, dependant on style preferences.

Timbers can be joined with steel, concrete or traditional framing as needed. Our draftsmen can assist you to seamlessly integrate timbers into any building plan with final approval by qualified engineers.

For full timber frame applications, we employ a SIP (structural insulated panel) engineered wall system. Each wall piece arrives on-site, pre fit to the timber structure for fast and easy installation. The combination of timber with SIP walls creates the strongest most long-lasting structure available and has been proven to outlast even the sturdiest concrete and steel  buildings.  A timber frame home is built to last generations.

Each project that we complete is test-fitted in our 12,000 sq. ft. covered facility to ensure hassle free assembly on site. We supply plans illustrating clear instructions and guarantee a smooth assembly on-site.

Finishing

Our timbers are planed, hand-sanded and stained or oiled to your specifications. We use premium quality BRODA® PRO-TEK-TOR™ stains and finishes that offer the best wear and longevity possible. When the time comes for maintenance on your timbers we can supply the exact stain that was used and expert advice for preparation and application.

Timely Delivery

We realize that the old cliche, "time is money," holds true in the construction industry. We pride ourselves in delivering our products as promised and on time.
